SANDBLASTING GUN NOZZLES – FACTS:

Wear and tear on your sandblasting nozzles is inevitable. The abrasive material gradually wears down the nozzle, affecting its performance, and the higher the pressure used, the faster the wear occurs. Choosing the right nozzle material makes a significant difference. Avoid those cheap ceramic nozzles!  Instead, invest in long-lasting tungsten options. While the initial cost may be slightly higher, they can last for 300+ hours, saving you money and hassle in the long run. Remember, maintaining your nozzles is crucial. A worn nozzle puts a strain on your compressor, reduces efficiency, and leads to overuse of abrasive material. For optimal performance, replace tungsten nozzles when their diameter increases by 1/16th of an inch (e.g., a 6mm nozzle should be replaced when it reaches 8mm).

SANDBLASTING GUN MAINTENANCE:

Regular maintenance is vital for optimal sandblasting performance. Make it a habit to visually inspect your nozzles and air jet for any signs of damage. [Comparison images: new vs. damaged].  Additionally, disassemble and clean your gun weekly to remove any debris that could hinder its function [image demonstrating this].  Lastly, it's good practice to measure the diameter of your nozzles to track wear and ensure timely replacement (standard tungsten T75 nozzles start at 6mm, air jets at 3mm).

ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR NOZZLE CHANGES

Whenever you change nozzles, follow these steps: 1) Securely tighten the ring on the body, 2) Ensure the air jet is inserted at the correct depth [photo for reference], and 3) Use new jubilee clips on hoses to prevent any air or abrasive leaks.
